So many choices, so little time! What is a dog parent supposed to do? Every day you hear or read about dog food. Dog food recalls, the hazards of feeding your dog raw, no, wait, raw is the best way to go, no, wait, fresh is best. Grains are bad! No, wait, grains are good for dogs. Are you confused yet?
How could you not be? So how do you decide what is best for your dog? Is it what your veterinarian suggests? Not always (surprised?). Should you feed your dog what your best friend feeds theirs? Did you read that XYZ dog food is best on Facebook? Well, of course, everyone knows that if it’s on Facebook it has to be a fact. Right?
Here’s A Fact For You
The fact is, what you feed your dog is up to you. No, I mean, it’s up to you to figure out what is best for you and your dog! Okay, so how do you do that?
Do you start by reading all those labels? Label Smabel! The truth is the dog food you buy is NOT as regulated as you might think. It has to be tested and approved by some organization in order to be sold, doesn’t it? Well ….. sort of. Don’t miss: 8 Shocking Truths About Ingredients Found In Some of Your Favorite Dog Food.
If you read my blog then you know how I feel about the importance of feeding your dog healthy ingredients. You also know that I am very concerned about feeding manufactured, processed dog food.
The Easy Way To Decide What To Feed Your Dog
Forget all the rhetoric you’ve heard. Never mind what your best friend feeds his or her dog. There’s no need to stand in the pet food aisle and read every single ingredient label.
Here is all you need to know:
- It must be healthy and made with wholesome ingredients with no additives, food coloring, or by-products!
- No “one size fits all”. It should address all your particular dog’s nutritional needs. Things like, weight, age, activity level, and any health issues should be considered.
- The next thing to consider is your lifestyle. Let’s face it, we are all busy people these days. So convenience is a necessity.
- Budget. Well, duh! You have to be able to afford what you feed your dog.
I recently conducted a survey (if you participated, thank you from the bottom of my heart!) and it revealed that most of you feed your dog dry food.
This led me to look for a healthy alternative to fresh dog food that I could wholeheartedly recommend to my readers. I found it.

Kind regards Emma
Hi,
I’m sorry, unfortunately, they do not have Pupo in the Netherlands at this time. Thank you so much for your interest, though. I make my own and you can too. I do not recommend feeding homemade dog food unless you are well informed about the balance and nutrients that dogs need for optimum health. I’ve done the research for you and you can learn how to feed your dog healthy, balanced, homecooked meals. If you are interested you can purchase my book HERE.
