Although dog food companies claim that their dog food has all the nutrients dogs need, that simply is not true. These dog foods are processed. I try to stay away from processed food because I know it is not good for me, so I do the same for my dogs.

But, I also realize that many do feed their dogs conventional dog food and that’s okay. You know what is best for your dog, lifestyle, and budget. But, either way, you go, for their optimum health, they need daily vitamins for dogs as a supplement to be sure they are getting all the nutrients they need especially during an illness, stress, when taking medications, and to combat environmental toxins.

There Is Just One Problem

There is just one problem with feeding your dogs your own recipes. Although I have done a lot of research on what nutrients dogs need each day, I am not a nutritionist, — human or veterinary — and I venture to guess that you aren’t either. So, I worried about whether they were getting all the vitamins and minerals that they needed for the best health possible. I began looking for daily vitamins for dogs to add as a supplement.

Why I Tried Only Natural Pet

That is why I was happy to oblige when I was asked to review Only Natural Pet Senior Ultimate Daily Vitamins for dogs to give to Chico, 15 and Pebbles, 11, and Only Natural Pet Daily Vita-Mineral herbal formula for Remedy who is 2 years old. I was not paid for this review and it is 100% my honest opinion. I only work with companies I feel confident truly care about the health and well being of pets. What I Like About Only Natural Pet Senior Vitamin Formulas

As you know, I have two senior Chis and this is the daily vitamins for dogs formula that I give to them. They come in both powder and chewable tablet form to make them easy to administer.

These daily vitamins for dogs are formulated to have the necessary ingredients to maintain a dog’s skin & coat, and their joints (so important for senior dogs). They support their immune, digestive, nervous, urinary, and endocrine symptoms. They list all the ingredients on their website.

When I started feeding my dog’s homemade, natural food the difference in all three was like night and day! They were so much healthier. To be honest, I really didn’t think I would notice much difference when I started adding these daily vitamins for dogs. But, I was greatly mistaken. Although I had already noticed an increase in my oldest dog (15), after feeding him these vitamins, he has even more energy. At his age, I didn’t think that was possible. But, it’s true.

Before, when he got up in the morning (he has arthritis) he would hang his head and sort of lumber to the dog door to go out. Now he honestly has a spring in his step in the morning again! I love Chihuahua’s bouncy, saucy little walk, don’t you? It was so nice to see his saucy little walk again!

Pebbles (11) was always an energetic playful little Chihuahua. But, as she grew older, she started slowing down significantly. I just chalked it up to getting older. After feeding her homemade dog food she became playful again. When I added these vitamins, she had even more energy. She acts like a puppy again. First thing when she wakes up now, she wants to play!

What I Like About Only Natural Pet Vita-Mineral Herbal Formula

The daily Vita-Mineral formula is the formula that I give to my 2-year-old, Remedy Jane. I’ve tried other vitamins, but giving them to my dogs was difficult. Usually, they are designed for bigger dogs and I always had to cut them in halves or quarters. I hated it so much I just stopped giving them to them (I know, bad mama!). This formula comes in liquid form with an eye dropper and is so easy to give to your dog. You can mix it directly in their food (which is what I do), or you can give it to them directly in the mouth with the dropper or a syringe. You can also give it to them mixed into 1/2 cup of warm water. I’ve given them to her each way for this review and she loves the taste no matter how I give them to her.

I like that it has kelp (along with many other natural ingredients). Kelp is something I have never put in my homemade recipes and it is an abundant source of calcium. In fact, it has 10 times more calcium than milk (you shouldn’t give your dog milk). It also has many of the minerals that dogs need.

The best thing about it, in my opinion, is it is designed to help the body absorb the vitamins and minerals in their food. That’s important because some dogs do not absorb vitamins and minerals from their food very well for a variety of reasons. For instance, inflammation of the intestinal lining can hinder the absorption. Allergies, arthritis, and many other ailments can cause such inflammation.

What I Didn’t Like About These Vitamins

I use both these formulas. When I do a review I always try to give my readers the good and the bad of the product so that they (you) can make an informed decision about whether you want to purchase it or not. No product is perfect. But, I really can’t think of anything that I didn’t like. I love that both formulas are so easy to give. The directions for the chewable tablets are; up to 20 lbs, 1 tablet. No more cutting vitamins into halves or quarters (such a pain in the, well, you know). Some dogs may be allergic to them. My Remedy Jane has a lot of allergies but showed no signs of an allergic reaction, however.

I did try once to give Remedy the vita-mineral formula from the dropper, but it seemed to come out too fast and got it all over her face (poor baby). But, for me, it is much easier to just mix it in their food anyway, so although that may be a problem for some, it wasn’t for me.

Would I recommend these vitamins?

Yes, I would. Whether you feed your dog(s) dry kibble or natural human grade food, I’m confident that you will notice a significant difference in their overall health, coat, skin, and energy level.
