I love NomNom dog food and most importantly, so do my 4 Chihuahuas! In this post, I’m going to tell you all the reasons that I love it above all other dog food delivery services. If you are interested in knowing why I would never feed my dogs’ kibble or manufactured dog food again, there are lots of articles here to explain that, so I won’t go into it now. If you are familiar with my blog or other social media platforms then you already know that I am a big advocate for feeding our Chihuahuas a fresh food diet using only fresh ingredients over any other type of manufactured dog food. I think by now that most of us understand all the amazing benefits of fresh dog food, but if not here are just a few reasons:

- Healthier, softer, and shiner coates
- Healthier skin
- Healthier, brighter eyes
- Less waste and firmer stools
Why Not Just Make Your own?
Many well-meaning dog owners make their own dog food. While I applaud them for their dedication to their Chihuahua’s health, they really aren’t reaping the benefits they are trying to achieve — That is, better health and longer life.
Creating a HEALTHY homemade recipe isn’t rocket science, but it does require knowing the science of canine nutrition. It requires knowing the right calories YOUR Chihuahua needs, and the right balance of protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats. It’s important to know how each ingredient is benefiting your Chihuahua’s body. For example, what ingredients help support your Chihuahua’s heart, kidneys, allergies, skin issues, weight control, etc.
If you don’t have that knowledge than you could be causing your Chihuahua more harm than good. They may be getting more of a certain nutrient than they should or not enough of the nutrients that they need to be and remain healthy for a lifetime.
For instance; did you know that vitamin D deficiency is common in dogs, however too much vitamin D can cause kidney failure? Plus there are many crucial vitamins that all dogs require in their diet, and the four most common vitamin deficiencies in dogs are:
- Vitamin A
- Vitamin D
- Vitamin E
- Vitamin B2
SO WHAT'S A DOG MOM or dad TO DO?
So, you don’t want to take a science class in canine nutrition? No problem! There are many fresh food delivery services available. But which one? How do you choose? I’ve got that covered too! Hands down I would choose no other than NomNom. Let me tell you why.
IT BEGINS WITH A STORY
The story of my Pebbles. She was diagnosed with DCM or cardiomyopathy when she was still quite young. It started with a routine annual check-up. My veterinarian discovered she had an enlarged heart and a mass on her heart. He told me that she would eventually go into heart failure due to a fluid buildup in her chest and abdomen. Because of that, they couldn’t even think about chemo or surgery to address the mass. We had no idea whether it was cancer or not. MY VETETERNIARIAN SAID THAT SHE PROBABLY ONLY HAD 6 MONTHS TO A YEAR TO LIVE.
We went home with a bag full of medications for her heart and my heart was completely broken! In her short life we had already been through so much together and she had been my constant companion through it all. How could I say goodbye? We hadn’t had enough time together.
There had to be a way to help her! After intense research about DCM, I learned so much about the link between manufactured dog food and DCM. That is when I vowed to find a better way. Then I found NomNom.
SERIOUSLY; WHY NOMNOM?
In 2017 I attended a conference for pet bloggers around the world. We traveled to Mertle Beach, SC, USA for the three day event. There I met a representative of NomNom. We had a very pleasant conversation about dog food and the dangers of manufactured dog food and he told me about the company. When I got home I started researching the company. Here’s what I learned:

THE RESULTS OF FEEDING NOMNOM TO MY PEBBLES
So you might be wondering what happened to Pebbles? Well, she did pass away in 2021, at 15 years of age! Far, Far longer than her vet had expected …I had 7 more years with her. And she was relatively healthy all those years. She lived a normal active life. Did feeding her NomNom cure her heart? Of course not! She was on medication for her heart for the rest of her life, however, I am absolutely convinced that it was because I changed her diet immediately upon diagnosis to one of fresh food from NomNom that she lived far longer than expected.
She had an exam every six months after her diagnosis and x-rays and EKGs periodically every year. Her veterinarian was amazed at her every single visit! He repeated every single time we saw him; “She is one tough little dog!”
Indeed she was! Although she only weighed 4.2 lbs all her life she was indeed brave and tough!

What about now? If you follow me here and on social media and YouTube Channel then you know that I now have four beautiful Chihuahuas. Three of which I adopted from a rescue organization: Cora, Winston, and Lily. We have had Remedy since she was 8 weeks old.
They are all healthy, happy, and amazing little dogs and they bring us much joy. Do they eat NomNom?
That would be a resounding YES! To say that they love it would absolutely be an understatement!
p.s. After years of study and research on canine nutrition and earning the title of Canine Nutrition Specialist, I now feed them my own recipes. However, when I simply don’t feel like making my own then they absolutely DO eat NomNom.
