It seems to me that every day a new scam arises. You have to be especially careful about purchasing anything online. That is why I decided to do this k-9 training institute masterclass review. I wanted to see for myself so I could give you my honest opinion.
Have you ever been scammed? I have. It’s not pleasant, especially when you are scammed out of your hard-earned money. Or, have you paid for something and felt cheated? It’s really frustrating and frankly maddening when you pay for something and find out it wasn’t worth the money you paid for it.
So you may come across online dog training courses and be afraid to try them for fear it is a scam or not worth the money. Well, I want you to know that I hear you! Training a Chihuahua is not an easy task and if not done correctly, you can do more harm than good, or worse, you could be reinforcing bad behavior without even realizing it!
Why Should You Consider An Online Course?
Before I purchase anything online I look for reviews. Is that true of you? It’s the best way to ensure that you are purchasing a quality product or service online. Seeing what others who have already purchased that product think about it.
Online dog training courses are easy to access. All you need is internet access. When you purchase an online course you will get a login name and a password. Just like most anything else online.
Before purchasing an online dog training program or course, make sure that they include all of the following:
What To Look For
- Good ones are extensive. They should include lessons on everything. A good training course will teach you everything from housetraining, to basic and more advanced skills. Most importantly be sure that they ONLY use positive reinforcement training methods! (SEE: The Alpha Dog, Is Your Chihuahua The Boss?)
- They should be interactive. I don’t know about you, but I learn best by watching someone else do something and then my practicing that. Just reading instructions does not work for me. So a really good training course will include videos of someone showing you how.
- Include other learning material such as “homework”, PDFs, and other downloads to aid you in learning and continuing to learn.
- Flexible. With online courses, there is no set time and/or place. You should be able to complete the course at your own pace and at a time that is convenient for you.

K-9 Training Institute Masterclass Review
I have trained all my Chihuahuas myself. But when I heard about how the K-9 Training Institute Masterclass teaches you how to train your dog like a service dog, I was intrigued.

I learned different methods to reach a goal in training. So I’d like to tell you all about it. But you can sign up for the FREE introductory course now:
What is the 10-week k-9 institute training masterclass?
k-9 Training Institute Masterclass is different from other online dog training courses. It is conducted by Dr. Alexa Diaz, Ph.D. in animal behavior, who has trained service dogs for over 20 years. Although some of the training videos and material are conducted by other trainers.
Have you ever seen a service dog in action? Have you noticed how very calm they always are regardless of the environment or any distraction that is happening around them? They are entirely focused on their owner, even when just laying down waiting for a cue for what they need to do. Training your Chihuahua like a service dog is what this k-9 institute training masterclass is about.
To be clear, this training class will not teach you how to train them to be certified service dogs. However, if you follow the instructions your Chihuahua will learn to trust you and follow your directions in any situation. They will learn to be as obedient and calm as a service dog when you need them to be. Imagine your Chihuahua sitting calmly at the door, no barking, no jumping, or demanding attention when someone comes to the door!
Of course, I’m sure you aren’t looking for a training class that will teach your Chihuahua to bring you things, remind you to take your medications, or do any of the amazing things that actual service dogs do. Your Chihuahua is a treasured part of the family and he is not “working” for you as a service dog does.
You just want a calm Chihuahua that will do what you ask them to do. One that has no bad behaviors. But when you have finished with this k-9 institute training masterclass your Chihuahua will be calm in any situation and will be ready at any time to follow your direction just like a service dog.
Should you choose to take the 10-week k-9 institute training masterclass you’ll learn:
- How to teach your Chi to come each and every time called
- You’ll learn how to train your Chi to walk nicely on a leash
- How to train your Chi to remain calm on walks when greeting people or other dogs
- You’ll learn to decipher a dog’s body language
- How to stop aggressive behavior
- Door manners, stop barking each time someone comes to the door, and how to greet people nicely when they enter your home.
And so much more, that is just a short list but everything you learn if you choose to take the Masterclass is absolutely invaluable. Once you take this training class, you will know how to handle any situation that may arise in the future.
What I Loved About The 10-Week K-9 Training Institute Masterclass
So, keeping in mind all the things I said above that you should look for, how does the K-9 Training course stack up?
Extensive
This is a 10-week course with bonus classes. Bonus classes include housetraining, separation anxiety, kids and dogs, biting, and nipping. Each week is a new skill. You take this course one week at a time, or one new skill at a time because your Chihuahua will need to have thoroughly learned the skill from the previous week before you move on to the next week’s classes.
Interactive
The masterclass is interactive. Meaning that along with slides, with information there are also downloads with more information and homework. Each week’s class includes a video showing you exactly how to implement the new skill.
In my opinion, the very best feature of this masterclass is the weekly calls! I love love, love that each week there are video calls that usually last for 30 to 60 minutes. They don’t just leave you in the lurch after you have purchased the Masterclass, so to speak. You can ask questions on these calls.
They will answer questions via email in a separate call and will even upload the recording of each week’s call to your class so you will have access to the answers at your convenience. Did I say extensive? It is both extensive and interactive.
It is very flexible
Once you purchase the masterclass it is yours to keep and to refer back to anytime you need to. It’s like having a personal dog trainer with you at all times.
It Is Fun
This training class is fun. If you follow their instruction each week you will have the best-behaved dog on the block and will be the envy of all your friends and family.
What I Did Not Like
It Can Be Considered Rather Expensive
You know, this could actually be in the what I liked category as well as what I didn’t like category. Expensive is a relative term. It depends on the funds you have available to you whether you consider something to be expensive or not. Would you agree?
And it is true that you get what you pay for. So only you can decide whether it really is expensive or not. But, what I can tell you is it is money well spent. You will not later feel cheated and that you didn’t get what you paid for.
Although the dogs used in the videos are not previously trained, your Chihuahua may not be quite as cooperative as the dogs in the videos. Some dogs will be very excitable at the beginning (or maybe that’s just my Cora :). But, all that really means is you will have to be a little more patient with your dog and it may take longer for yours to “get it” than it appears that the dog in the video “gets it”.
Size Of Dog
Of course, this training course, as all dog training classes are, is meant for dogs of all sizes and abilities. I have found in my extensive experience with training Chihuahuas that sometimes the exact execution of the instructions may need to be modified a little for our tiny dogs.
As an example, since Chihuahuas are so small and low to the ground you will have to bend down lower than the person in the video which can make it more difficult for some people. But, they all can be modified for working with tiny dogs.
Another reason the size of the dog comes into play is in one of the classes the instruction you are given is to just stand up and the dog will slide off your lap. They assure you that it won’t hurt your dog. That may be very true of a bigger dog that doesn’t have far to fall, but a Chihuahua could be injured, especially if it lands on a hard floor. I was excited to see that they do use a Chihuahua or Chihuahua mix in one of their training videos.

Conclusion:
I have taken the entire 10-week course and as a result, I give this masterclass in dog training an A. If it were not for the things mentioned that I didn’t like it would be a solid A+.
I don’t do reviews ordinarily, but I was impressed with this training course. I have been training Chihuahuas for over 25 years and I agree with the instructions with the one exception of letting your Chihuahua slide off your lap.
It is very important for all dogs to be trained, especially Chihuahuas. As I have mentioned many times on this website before, Chihuahuas are very loyal and protective little dogs. It is those same wonderful qualities that can become bad behaviors if not trained and socialized.
I would love to be able to come to everyone’s houses and teach you how to train your Chihuahua or answer every training question that I get in emails, but it is just not possible. So, I suggest this k-9 institute training masterclass instead as the next best thing!
