Chihuahuas don’t know they are tiny dogs. Paco, the crime-fighting Chihuahua is one such Chihuahua! They are very protective. This can sometimes get them in big trouble or it can make them tiny heroes.

Here is one such story that could have gone both ways. Thankfully for little Paco, and his owner, it was the latter.

A tiny chihuahua became a crime-fighting hero on July 7 when he chased off two armed robbers from a Southern California cigar store.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department released this surveillance footage from the Ace Smoke Shop in Altadena, CA that shows two masked men entering the establishment with a rifle and a backpack. Apparently, Paco is in the back or behind the counter and doesn’t know what is happening, so at first, the robbers demanded money from store owner Eric Knight, who starts putting cash in the backpack off-screen (in the video below).

They’re interrupted by the store owner’s brave little crime-fighting Chihuahua, who begins barking ferociously at the armed robbers. Flustered, the two men grab the backpack and run away, but not before pointing the rifle at both the cashier and little Paco.

Knight told ABC 7 that his little hero, Paco, has been with him for five years ever since Knight rescued him from a shelter. “I’m going to put a cape on him I think,” said Knight.

The two men got away with about $200 but no one was hurt, reports CNN.

In the longer version of the security footage, Knight is seen exiting the store to look for his dog. Paco returned shortly, tail wagging.

About Chihuahuas

Chihuahuas are the most loyal little dogs. They usually prefer and bond with one person in the household and that is their person. However, this adorable quality can be construed in the wrong direction and if not corrected early, they may become aggressive when they believe that something or someone is threatening their possession — their person!

In this case, it made little Paco, a hero. They definitely make the best little watch dogs!
