Living in the Mojave Desert on a desolate road, so many dogs wandered into my yard, some feral and some that were just dumped there. I put food and water out for them every day.
They were mostly big dogs that at least had some chance of surviving. One day a little chihuahua came into my yard. I knew this tiny he would never survive the harsh weather, large dogs, snakes, lack of food and water so I took him in.

He decided he would be my entertainment as he is really comical and also protects me from anyone who may come near me. He guarded my property, chasing off packs of huge dogs and puffing out his chest with great pride.
He does not leave my side twenty-four hours a day and has brought me more happiness than I can ever express. He survived the desert for however long he was out there and now lives in the lap of luxury. My little desert dog!
