Pet Technology Today
Do you find technology difficult to keep up with? Technology changes constantly and is growing faster than most of us can keep up with!
Just think about it. Who hasn’t heard of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Skype? Want to learn how to do something? There’s a YouTube video for that! We shop, pay our bills, stream movies, even read books using technology!

We have smart homes, robots, self-driving cars, it should come as no surprise that all that technology is beginning to permeate the pet industry as well.
Health Technology
Think of all the available technology now available for us, smartwatches, calorie and step trackers, etc. Got a FitBit?
With all the new and trending health monitoring devices and apps now available for humans, it only stands to reason that the same kind of technology for our dogs is becoming more and more available.
The newest pet technology products available today can be food and treat dispensers, medical care, and treatments. The pet food industry has gotten the message that we want healthier food for our Chihuahuas!
Yet2 is hoping to see more at-home diagnostics and improve pain management for our pets in the future. If you have a cat Companies like Pretty Litter are making it easier for cat owners even now with innovative products that make it easier to know if it’s time for a trip to the vet or if they just have a quirky personality.
Speaking of cats, follow our Lucy, on her Instagram
Personalized nutrition and other health-related technology, such as testing your Chihuahuas microbiome, and even their genetics with at-home testing methods. The microbiome testing will tell you what you need to change in your Chihuahua’s diet to keep them healthy.

Medical treatment for our dogs is also likely to grow in the future. Due to advancements made with human medical treatments. Companies like One Health Company is working on cancer treatments designed specifically for dogs.
Partnerships between the Medical Center, Navicent Health and the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine allows people with used pacemakers to donate them to dogs with heart problems.
Technology And Dog Behavior
If you have a less-than-perfectly-behaved Chihuahua there is anticipation of technology that can even improve our Chi’s behavior. Companies are looking at auditory and olfactory signals that can curb behavior problems due to anxiety.
There has even been talk about advancements in facial recognition and artificial intelligence being used to analyze pet’s facial expressions and a dog’s body language to determine your Chihuahua’s moods, pain levels. This would help personalize a behavior plan based on your unique Chi’s behaviors, quirks, likes, and dislikes. Jut imagine a camera that could do all that!
Pet Technology And Pet Waste
Are you sick of picking up poop from the backyard? Never fear, there is technology for that! Robotics may be the answer. LiDAR is using sensors that are able to navigate environments they never have been able to before. They are also developing robots that are able to grab and move objects of unusual shape and texture. Wow! Robotic pooper-scoopers!
Technology And Pet Safety
Sometimes no matter how careful we may be, sometimes dogs just have a mind of their own and in one way or another may bolt out a door or someone may accidentally leave the gate open from wherever it is that they go to the potty. It can happen to any pet parent. Now there is, of course, microchipping, high-tech fences, pet cameras, and or tracking technology. If you have more than one however, keeping all of them individually safe with any of these can be quite expensive.
There are wearable tracking devices now and someday soon these may also have cameras, a hydration sensor, and a heartbeat monitor.
So, there you have it! We as Chihuahua owners have much technology now that we can use to keep our Chihuahuas healthy and safe and we have some fantastic helpful technology in our near future.
